Cyclone Evan update 7

Well it appears the worst has passed now. It is still raining but less wind. Have begun some clean up using rain water.

Went to the supermarket this morning for more supplies of candles, batteries, water, canned food, hand wipes, ice, drinks and chippies! Were there for about an hour and a half in the queue but there was no panic and everyone was very polite to one another.

Also went up to USP to check on things. The two big pulu trees on campus have blown over which was no mean feat. 1 has caused major damage to the classrooms and walkway nearby. There are also many other trees down and crops stripped. I guess there may be food shortages now as all the papaya and bananas in the country are gone. The library has huge puddles on the workroom floor.

There are also many powerlines down across roads and trees.

That is about it now for updates. I have heaps of photos and video but battery is crashing as we speak so until there is power there wont be much more from us.

Speak again soon
