An update this morning on the situation. A bit calmer but word from NZ via text is that it might not be over yet. Radio Australia reports it may still come back round and intensify.
Water from the tap for us is now dribbling out, and we are on the good side of town for water. We are saving water from the roof in buckets and whatever containers we can find.
We gather there is a lot of damage in town and around. We are lucky to live in a solid concrete brick house, but even that leaked! We have many broken plants and debris around now.
Power is obviously still out.
As batteries are running low everywhere, getting news is hard. Radio station's were off air this morning so we feel a little in the dark for what is going on. Family, please keep texting as you hear reports.
